Pho Thuan Thanh
About This Spot
Stepping into Pho Thuan Thanh in Mesa feels like finding a quiet corner where the hum of daily life softens. This casual Vietnamese spot sits unassumingly on Dobson Road, inviting those seeking comfort and familiarity through simple, soulful flavors. The pace lingers somewhere between a local neighborhood retreat and a place where a bowl of pho becomes more than a meal — it’s a moment to pause and reconnect.
The interior bears a straightforward charm, the kind that doesn’t shout but quietly builds an atmosphere of routine warmth. It’s the sort of place where newcomers and regulars share the subtle rituals of Vietnamese dining — lifting fragrant herbs, adjusting the tang of broth with a squeeze of lime, or breaking crusty bánh mì with eager hands.
The menu at Pho Thuan Thanh unfolds like a journey across familiar tastes: from rich, slow-simmered beef stews to bowls of tender filet mignon pho; dishes that balance hearty and fresh with mint leaves, vibrant sauces, and carefully cared-for broths. This isn’t a place chasing trends but one holding steady to flavors that invite intimacy and comfort, ideal for those who appreciate the slow reveal of a layered meal.
Drinks here feel thoughtfully selected to accompany those moments: jasmine teas served icy cold, Thai tea’s creamy sweetness, or a refreshing salted limeade to cut through the richness. It’s a subtle nudge toward the everyday joys found in small, deliberate details.
Though straightforward in style, the rhythm of Pho Thuan Thanh carries the unmistakable pulse of a place grounded in its community. Visitors bring their own stories and flavors to the table, creating a human mosaic that’s as essential as the food itself. This balance between quiet familiarity and the ebb and flow of daily lives shapes an experience that lingers beyond the last sip of broth.

Food: A+. The broth is rich, the egg rolls are crisp, and the lemonade is fresh—all at great prices. Service: D-. On several visits, the person who appears to be the owner has avoided eye contact with us, had an attitude, and messed up our order. As a Black man dining with my girlfriend from Guam, that pattern made us feel singled out and uncomfortable. The unprofessional atmosphere takes away from truly great cooking. I hope management trains or reassigns the front-of-house so every guest is treated with basic courtesy. Until then, we’ll pass despite how good the food is.

Ordered over doordash and picked up in store. the food was delicious, i got the beef pho and banh mi. I also got coffee but id skip on it next time i go. the flavor wasn’t bad but the cup they gave wasn’t even full. the serving sizes are pretty good for the quality

I got the steak/beef pho. The broth is a bit sweet to my liking but once I add in the sauces and lime, delicious!! The pho is always super comforting. I’ve also gotten shrimp spring rolls and those were yummy too. The sauce for it is different from the usual peanut sauce I’ve had but, it was still good! When I first went here the owner spoke sternly. But, after that he has been pretty welcoming (still can be stern but I don’t take it to heart). When I crave pho, this is my go to spot.
